Student Health Insurance Extension
When does the Health Care extension for college students go into effect?
I’m currently a college student and have health Insurance through my parents. I know that Obama’s HeaIth Care Plan extends coverage to students until the age of 26. I’m turning 24 soon, which originally would have knocked me off my parents Insurance. I know that certain sections go into effect at different times, but I was wondering when this change would go into effect. I have already received documents from my Insurance stating that I will be losing coverage. If there is a certain lapse period, would I be able to get back on my parents Insurance once the period is up and the new semester start.

I’m pretty sure this won’t go into effect until at least 2014, so it won’t apply to you. Even if it was sooner, it certainly won’t be in the time period where you would be covered.
