Can they still drop my child from my health Insurance because of age?
Obama signed in March 2010 that children would be kept under their parents’ policies until age 26 (to take effect in 6 months). Can they drop them now and reinstate them later? Or must they (the Insurance companies) keep them on, knowing they will have to eventually?
They will drop the child for the time being. The actuaries need time to figure an appropriate premium adjustment. That portion of the bill goes into effect 9/23/10. The child will be able to get back on the policy when it renews after that date. That means that if your policy renews September 1 they can’t get back on until September 2011.
