college student health insurance in florida
What is wrong with this picture??? This is whack!!!?

I live in florida and am unable to find any type of dental or health help through the state because I don’t have kids and I am not living with a disibility. I am not trying to have the state take care of me but I am a struggling college student and I do not have any relatives to help me. I feel this is so unfair because there are women who are just popping out children to get more money from the state. I just need medical and dental attention while I am a full time student and I can’t afford Insurance. Does anyone else have problems in their state? Are there any ideas that you can suggest so I can get help? thank you all.

It’s a problem in every state as far as I know. The public assistance system is messed up in many ways.

See if your school has health Insurance you can buy as a student, I think I paid about $15/month for that. It doesn’t cover everything, but it helps.

As for dental, for regular cleanings, look around for a 2 year college that has a dental hygienist program. They charge about $20 for a routine cleaning, exam, and X-rays. (They do have a licensed dentist on staff as well.) If you need anything beyond that, they can direct you to the cheapest option.
