Health and Life Insurance Business?
So I just started working for a life and health Insurance Company. I have no experience in Insurance or sales. Our target is the senior market. The company sends out information then we make cold calls to those people and schedule our appointments. What are other ways to book appointments? How do your agents get their clients? Is there any other way to get my clients or get my name out?
Good luck at this dead end job(if you call it a job). I’ll bet the so-called leads your company sent out are years old, so when you try to follow-up and call these people, many have moved or passed away.
Do you know what a lead is? It is a postcard mailed to someone asking if they would like info about social security, and when they check the yes box, your company, or more specifically you, will follow it up………….. years later when all is forgotten. Now it is your job to make some interviews with people who do not care, whose children now have the legal right to intervene, who may not be real together mentally. And on top of this, in this economic downturn we are in, where no one is buying anything, you are supposed to run out, and get these elderly citizens to buy final Insurance from you.
If you do not go to the poor neighborhoods, where most people actually do not have Insurance, you are totally wasting your time and effort. And what fun it is in these areas. For every 3-4 interviews you actually make if indeed you can make this many, you will get stood up with all but maybe 1.
And do you know that many companies send out mailers directly to people in the same situation, without going door to door? You are competing with all the top companies who advertise on tv, and are legit!
Do yourself a favor. Get a real job like the rest of us.
