Can I get health Insurance with a cyst?
My girlfriend was covered under Kaiser Permanente under a group plan through her father’s employer as a student. She had a golf ball sized cyst on her hip while she was covered, but they decided that it was ok to leave in place and did not do her harm. Since then, she exceeded the max age of this plan and was removed from coverage. Two years have passed, she is still a student, and wants to pay for her own coverage at Kaiser. Can she be denied coverage because of this cyst (do they consider it pre-existing even if they said it was no problem)? If the cyst is now necessary to be removed, are they required to cover it? If it is still unnecessary to be removed but becomes so in the future will they be required?
