Where I can find the best deal on home Insurance? Is there a direct way to obtain without an agent?
There are direct selling writers covering homeowners in some states, like Hartford or Amica. Technically, even when you speak directly to the company, talk to an agent, since all states require people who sell Insurance to have a license of an agent. Why do you want to go? Generally not a cost reduction (ie, you do not receive 20% discount for not using "agent"), and there is a problem which does not have anyone else to go. So, to get quotes from 5 different companies I would do with five calls, and explain everything 5 times. If you go to an independent agent, you will get many more citations, with much less trouble – and some comments on how each company operates its claims process.
